Feta Cheese-Making with Lally Broch Farm

  • The Not So Empty Nest 624 Hammond Street Bangor, ME, 04401 United States (map)

Join Sonja Twombly of Lally Broch Farm at The Not So Empty Nest to create delicious and fresh feta cheese for your family. You'll be guided step-by-step through the processes of ripening, adding vegetable rennet to set, cutting, straining, and brining your cheese. All the materials are provided for you in this class to make approximately 30 oz of cheese, but you'll want to bring your 2-3 gallon stock pot with lid for transporting your cheese home with you. We'll use Lally Broch Farm's fresh goat's milk to create a traditional feta cheese, but you may opt to bring fresh cow's milk instead, if you prefer a more mild taste. At the end of class, you'll receive printed instructions and additional cheese-making recipes. Space is EXTREMELY limited. Reserve your spot today!

Note: Class begins at 1 pm when we'll bring milk up to temperature and add culture to ripen. There will be a 50 minute recess at this point- grab a bite to eat, do some shopping, run a quick errand, etc. :)
